Activities for Children’s Book Week 2014

Connect to Reading 2014 Children’s Book Week is fast approaching! From Saturday 16 August – Friday 22 August 2014, schools and public libraries across Australia will spend a week celebrating Australian authors and illustrators and offer various activities based around the books and this year’s theme – Connect to Reading.

 

I have compiled a few activities that could be used for a Book Week Storytime on my Book Week Pinterest Board.

I also stumbled across these useful tips to encourage children to read for pleasure.

 

Storytime – Opposites

What's Up Duck?Please see below for some suggested books, songs and rhymes for an Opposite themed storytime. There were so many books about big/small I decided it warranted its own Storytime Theme – so stay tuned! For the craft activity I created a printable Opposites Book that includes a few pasting activities and a list of opposites – feel free to use this!
