OINK! Here comes some book, rhyme, song and craft ideas for a Pig Storytime!
Many Australians observe Father’s Day on the first Sunday of September. It is a day for people to show their appreciation for fathers and father figures. In the lead up to their special day, the library runs storytimes featuring books about Dads and a craft the children can give to Dad on Father’s Day. This year I made a card template for the craft activity – also see below for links to other great ideas.
Children’s Book Week is fast approaching! From Saturday 16 August – Friday 22 August 2014, schools and public libraries across Australia will spend a week celebrating Australian authors and illustrators and offer various activities based around the books and this year’s theme – Connect to Reading.
I have compiled a few activities that could be used for a Book Week Storytime on my Book Week Pinterest Board.
I also stumbled across these useful tips to encourage children to read for pleasure.
Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted!
Please see below for some suggested books, songs and rhymes for an Opposite themed storytime. There were so many books about big/small I decided it warranted its own Storytime Theme – so stay tuned! For the craft activity I created a printable Opposites Book that includes a few pasting activities and a list of opposites – feel free to use this!
This week I have selected a few of my favourite monster-themed books and songs and have attached a few photos of some suggested craft activities.
Nothing like new displays, redesigning book club logos and dreaming up new and exciting storytime themes to give the imagination a workout! In such a busy, fast-paced world, the importance of cultivating a child’s imagination can sometimes be forgotten.
“Logic will get you from A to Z; imagination will get you everywhere.” ― Albert Einstein
This term I combined the themes dream, wish, imagine and hope you find the attached booklist, songs and craft ideas useful…
