Storytime – Father’s Day 2014

dads rockMany Australians observe Father’s Day on the first Sunday of September. It is a day for people to show their appreciation for fathers and father figures. In the lead up to their special day, the library runs storytimes featuring books about Dads  and a craft the children can give to Dad on Father’s Day. This year I made a card template for the craft activity – also see below for links to other great ideas.

Activities for Children’s Book Week 2014

Connect to Reading 2014 Children’s Book Week is fast approaching! From Saturday 16 August – Friday 22 August 2014, schools and public libraries across Australia will spend a week celebrating Australian authors and illustrators and offer various activities based around the books and this year’s theme – Connect to Reading.

 

I have compiled a few activities that could be used for a Book Week Storytime on my Book Week Pinterest Board.

I also stumbled across these useful tips to encourage children to read for pleasure.
